• Medardo Serna González, appointed as Rector of the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo

Medardo Serna-González, a former member of our research group, was appointed as Rector of the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo on January 9th, 2015. His appointment took place after a Selection Commission analyzed the profiles and qualifications of each candidate. Medardo will serve as Rector of the UMSNH from 2015 to 2019. We are sure that Medardo will carry out his administrative duties with the same high quality standards that have distinguished him both as a Professor and as a Researcher. Congratulations, Medardo!

  • Best paper of the year

    Computers and Chemical Engineering, one of the top journals in our field, selects each year the best article published in the journal. The evaluation is done by the Editors and members of the Editorial Board. The selection as best paper for the year 2013 was: First Principles Pharmacokinetic Modeling: A Quantitative Study on Cyclosporin. A. Mosat, E. Lueshen, M. Heitzig, C. Hall, A.A. Linninger, G. Sin and R. Gani (Vol 54, pp. 97-110)

  • Celebration of Ignacio Grossmann’s 65th Birthday

    During the AIChE Annual Meeting of 2014, special events to celebrate the 65th birthday of Professor Ignacio Grossmann took place. One of them was a special dinner, attended by former graduate students, collaborators and colleagues of Dr. Grossmann. The other one was a special technical session in which several members of Dr. Grossmann’s academic tree, and distinguished colleagues presented interesting lectures on their research and how Dr. Grossmann has influenced their professional activities. This was a well-deserved recognition to the excellent work done by Dr. Ignacio Grossmann throughout his career and its remarkable impact in our profession. Congratulations, Ignacio!


  • Research stays by members of the group

    Several members of our research group concluded their research stays in prestigious foreign universities during 2014. Gustavo Gallardo-Moreno (with Professor Christos Maravelias, University of Wisconsin), Gilberto Gómez-González (with Professor Babatunde Ogunnaike, University of Delaware), Andrea Paulina Ortiz-Espinoza and Julio César Díaz-Gómez (with Professor Mahmoud El-Halwagi, Texas A&M University) and Salvador Tututi-Avila (Posdoctoral fellow with Professor Juergen Hahn, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) enjoyed valuable experience through their research stays, which have enhanced their professional development.
